Inspired by John William Waterhouse’ 1916 work The Tempest, this piece transforms Miranda into a 1950’s beachgoer looking out on a frothing sea. The weather isn’t suitable for swimming, yet she is entranced by the hypnotizing crash of the waves. The violence of the storm makes the foam look no less soft and she wonders- what would it feel like to walk in and let myself be swept away?
